Despite the fact that the Instagram-worthy dessert may seem unique to many, it is not actually new. In addition to India, Greece, and China, frothy coffee beverages have enjoyed worldwide popularity for years.
The kind of coffee known as dalgona coffee, which has been particularly popular this year, derives its name from another sweet. According to Maggie Moon, RD, a registered dietitian in Los Angeles, the coffee’s caramel-colored foam mimics a toffee-like confection sold by street sellers in Korea, similar to the candied peanut carts found all over New York City.

I experimented with several combinations, and I must confess that it was a lot of fun! In addition to creating a visually appealing image, my objective was to achieve the ideal combination of delightful coffee flavor (without excessive bitterness) and the minimum amount of sugar required to give the beverage its signature sweetness. What is Coconut Sugar?

Dalgona Coffee Recipe

- 1 teaspoon instant coffee
- 1 teaspoon coconut sugar
- 1 teaspoon pure maple syrup
- ¼ teaspoon pure vanilla extract
- 2 teaspoons hot water
- 5-6 ice cubes
- 1 cup unsweetened oat milk
- Dash cinnamon
In a small dish, combine the instant coffee, coconut sugar, maple syrup, vanilla essence, and water. Whip for two to four minutes, using a frother, handheld mixer, or by hand, until a stiff, creamy foam form (hand whipping may take a little longer). Combine the ice and oat milk in a cup or mug. cinnamon is sprinkled on the foam that is topped with the foam.
